2 The Crofts is a large Victorian terraced house, built in 1886 and situated on the edge of the village next to fields and woodlands. The location is peaceful, but just ten minutes walk takes you down the slight hill into Corbridge for good pubs, cafes and also speciality shops. Corbridge is a charming village dating from Roman times when the fort was built to supply Hadrian's Wall and the church was built in the sixth century, but now hosts a number of good pubs, cafes and specialist shops.

- Corbridge is a lovely village with attractive specialist shops, tea rooms and pubs. St Andrew's Church dates back to the sixth century and much of the village is built with stone taken from nearby Hadrian's Wall and the Roman fort in Corbridge itself, which is run by English Heritage. The River Tyne flows along the edge of the village and has a beautiful old bridge dating back to the eighteenth century.

- Hadrian's Wall is a world heritage site and only about five miles away. Corbridge has a Roman fort that was built as a supply fort for Hadrian's Wall and excavations are currently being done into a wooden Roman bridge.

- Hexham is a market town with historic abbey, moot hall and the first purpose-built gaol in the country. There is a weekly market on a Tuesday, monthly farmers' markets, livestock mart and all the activity you would expect in this rural town. Thriving arts and music events make this a very lively town.

- Newcastle upon Tyne is a buzzing city with good shopping, extensive culture with theatres - Theatre Royal, Playhouse and Tyne Theatre and art galleries such as the Laing. On the further bank of the Tyne, accessed by the famous Millennium Eye bridge, you will find the Baltic Art Gallery with its ever-changing exhibitions and the Sage Concert Hall, both of which offer a superb view over Newcastle. Gateshead is probably best known for the Metro Centre, a huge under cover shopping centre.
- Kielder Water and Forest (30 mi)
- Beautiful forests, man-made lakes, ideal for walking, cycling and other outdoor activities, this area is also one of the few remaining homes of the red squirrel. The lack of light pollution allows superb views of the night sky from the observatory. The open spaces have given rise to a large number of scuptures and other works of art around the area.

- Golf (3 mi)
- There are several golf courses within easy reach of Corbridge and with different characters. For starters, you can play the championship courses at Slaley Hall, Close House or the rapidly rising Matfen Hall also with a par 3 course, hilly Hexham or the peaceful Tynedale, a lovely gentle 9 hole parkland course on the banks of the Tyne in Hexham (marked on the map). Practice ranges are available at both Slaley and Matfen.
- Rowing and canoeing (3 mi)
- The River Tyne at Hexham is a fine place for rowing and canoeing and the Hexham Regatta, which is held annually in June, is the largest one day rowing regatta in the UK. Canoeists have an annual gathering on Tyne Green at the end of October / early November. Outside these events, the river is good for getting the boats out at all times and with a picnic area nearby and other facilities, it makes a lovely day in the open.

- Have a go at quad biking, 4x4 driving, gliding, archery, clay pigeon shooting, mountain biking, segway safari, harness sphering and aqua sphering in the lovely setting of Slaley Forest. Book in advance.
